The Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust has finally announced when Weston Park Museum will be re-opening: Saturday 14 October 2006.
One of the star attractions at the re-vamped museum will be a full-sized replica of a 300-year-old oak tree from the Chatsworth Estate.
I can't wait to explore the new exhibits. Like many Sheffielders I have fond memories of the museum from my childhood - like making friends with the stuffed polar bear and being scared by the incredibly life-like sculpture of two oriental wrestlers!
So you remember the wrestlers too? I just went to the new museum today and it isn't there anymore! I stumbled across your blog in search for an image of the sculpture so I could have a nostalgia trip.
