...spring has finally sprung!
Last weekend, Liz and I were caught in a blizzard whilst walking near Howden Reservoir. It seemed as though spring was still a long way off.
A week later and it feels as though winter is finally behind us. The buds are bursting and the warm sunshine has even brought out a few bumblebees and butterflies. We saw our first swallows over Grindleford on Friday morning. The blackbirds and thrushes have been singing their hearts out all weekend, as if they’re making up for lost time.
Walking in the Loxley Valley this afternoon, we came across loads of amorous toads crawling purposefully towards their spawning grounds. It looks though the mating season is well and truly underway!
