We had excellent weather this weekend, bright sunshine and blue skies, so Liz and I went for a couple of grand walks in the Peak District.
Saturday: Caught a 272 bus out to Fox House, then down through Longshaw (stopping briefly to feed the ducks on the lake) into Padley Gorge; resisted the temptation to call in at Grindleford Station cafe and headed north along the banks of the Derwent instead; turned east at Leadmill Bridge, wandered into Hathersage, then climbed the hill to North Lees Hall; paused to munch chocolate and gawp at the views, then yomped up and over Stanage Edge; reached Stanedge Pole at dusk, then trekked down to Redmires Reservoir; eventually arrived, rather sore-footed, at Lodge Moor bus terminus and caught 51 bus home.
Sunday: Caught a 64 bus to Low Bradfield then followed our usual Sunday afternoon route round Agden Reservoir and into Windy Bank wood; hiked up Agden Side and stopped for lunch at the top, ignoring the itermittent pong from a nearby muck-spreader; followed the path through the ruined farm at Rocher head and emerged in the chuchyard at High Bradfield; strolled along the lanes to Holdworth, arriving at Loxley Common just as the sun dipped below the horizon; walked home via Wisewood and Malin Bridge, calling in at the shop for a Heinz Treacle Pudding ("because we're worth it!").
You can find loads more photos from these two walks on Flickr.
