At long last, spring is sprung!
This afternoon, I saw a beautiful brimstone butterfly resting on a bramble leaf. Before I could get a photo, it was chased away by a small tortoiseshell. There were loads of bees buzzing around the flowers on a nearby willow tree.
Must get out for a long walk this weekend.
Red Grouse

Sheffield Wildlife Trust has just announced the winners of its Photographic Competition. My shot of a Red Grouse near Lost Lad Hill won first prize in the 'staff' category. I think this is the first time one of my pictures has ever won anything!
Yesterday we had a bracing walk from Lodge Moor to Hathersage via Stanage Edge. Due to the weather (and other factors) we haven't been able to get out for many walks so far this year.
There was quite a lot of snow on the moors ("significant accumulations" as they say at the Met Office). It was a bit dodgy coming down off Stanage Edge in a controlled way - we nearly ended up in Hathersage a lot sooner than we expected!
